■ Research Overview
We are investigating properties and functions of materials derived from biomolecules such as saccharides, peptides, and DNA. Among them, we are especially interested in trehalose, which is a disaccharide of two glucose units. Polymers derived from trehalose are synthesized and investigated. Furthermore, we prepare films and hydrogels from saccharides, peptides and DNA for application to biomaterials with biocompatibility.
