概要 | Unidirectionally-solidified 99.9% aluminum wires 6 mm in diameter have been produced by a heated mold continuous casting process (OCC Process) at casting speeds of 20~300 mm/min. The effects of casting speeds on crystalline structures of the cast wires have been studied by an EBSD technique. It was found that the crystal orientation of all cast wires parallel to the casting direction tended to be [100], the preferred growth orientation of aluminum. At lower casting speeds (20 mm/min), single crystal wires with low-angle tilting sub-grain boundaries were produced. In this case, the local disorientation angles of the sub-grain boundaries were chiefly distributed near 1 degree. As the casting speeds increased, some of the local disorientation angles exceeded 15 degree. At casting speeds above 100 mm/min, the wires exhibited unidirectional sub-texture containing low-angle and high-angle tilting grain boundaries. |
